Jack Albrecht, Library Director

Raised in a military family, his father's Army career took the family to assignments throughout the US and abroad.  He graduated from Bitburg American High School in Germany.  During his early years, he attended college and, on occasion, worked as a singer and actor in Colorado.  He got his BA in Humanities from San Diego State University in California and his Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Arizona, Tucson.  He managed branches with San Diego Public Library for fifteen years, decided to return to the Rockies in 2010 by moving to his vacation home in Whitefish.

In Whitefish, Jack worked for two years for Montana Coffee Traders, where he learned to appreciate the value of a great cup o' joe!  He fell in love with Virginia City when he was introduced to it by friends in 2010.  At the Thompson-Hickman Library, Jack and the rest of the library staff continue the tradition of hospitality, offering coffee, cookies, and conversation in a relaxed and friendly setting, making the Thompson-Hickman Library truly "a great place to hang!"

Christina Koch, Library Deputy Director/Youth Services Librarian

Born in Farmington, New Mexico, Christina grew up in Littleton, Colorado.  She received a certification in Early Childhood Education and worked as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher for eight years.  She also received a BFA in Musical Theater Performance from the Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master's in Library and Information Science from the University of Alabama. She and her husband have run the Virginia City Players theater company every summer since 2012 and she has worked at the library in Virginia City since 2010.  She absolutely adores being in charge of the children's programming.

Jane Bacon, Library Clerk & Archivist

Born in Minnesota, Jane lived in many states, but spent most of her adult life in Portland, Oregon.  She relocated to Virginia City, with her husband David, who introduced her to Virginia City in the ‘90s, and became a permanent resident in 2013.  She has worked as the Library Clerk since 2016, and in 2018 she also started working for the Finance and County Commissioner’s offices.  Her favorite past-times include bird feeding, watching wild birds, and shooting turkeys with a water gun.  She also loves old movies, good restaurants and butter.
